Writing in needs an account, and the reason is the same one the rest of this app gives: a reply has to have somewhere to come back to. Your message and the answer both live inside the app, where nobody else can read them.

Signing in takes an email address, used once to send you a code. It is never shown to anyone and never attached to anything you write.
